As news changes almost daily regarding the current virus outbreak, we are attempting to adapt to recommendations provided by various organizations and groups.
As recommended by the American Dental Association for all dental offices in the US, beginning March 18 and for the next 2-3 weeks we will be limiting treatment to urgent and emergency situations. The recommendation is for non-urgent treatment such as cleanings, to be postponed. We will be open daily Monday-Friday at 8 AM for toothaches, swelling, broken teeth and pain.
We are following this recommendation in order to play our part in helping prevent a spike in new cases over the next couple of weeks. If you have a situation needing attention, please call the office line at 816-353-0673.
I'm sure most all of us have gotten messages from various businesses and stores about Coronavirus and steps they are taking to help manage things, so this probably is not "news" to you.
Dentistry is obviously an "up close and personal" thing so the good news is that situations like this are not something that is completely brand new or foreign to us. Dentistry has been using precautions for every patient for over 30 years. We frankly treat every patient under precautions - that's why we use masks, glasses, pay very strict attention to sterilization or use things that are for one-time use only and discarded. This is for our protection as well as yours.
All surfaces in each room are thoroughly disinfected after each patient and again that is nothing new, it's always been that way here in our office.
Additionally we will now be disinfecting door knobs, handles, waiting room chairs and public areas several times throughout the day and will make sure that hand sanitizer is at the front desk area for guest use.
Lastly, Dr. Goodheart spent 5 years prior to becoming a dentist, working as a clinical microbiologist and medical technologist. He achieved Certification from the American Society for Microbiology and also holds a Certificate in Infection Control from the Michener Institute. Daily, he is obtaining the most current information possible and adapting to the most current recommendations and suggestions available.
If you have questions, please ask and know that we are striving to do our best for you during this current outbreak.
